Tuv Ha-aretz CSA Newsletter
Tuv Ha-aretz means both "good for the land" and "best of the land."
Tuv Ha-aretz: Hazon's Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program enable individuals to pre-purchase a share of a farmer’s produce for an entire season. In addition to guaranteeing the farmer a secure market, it gives members access to local, organic produce at competitive prices, while helping to preserve farmland and build community.
Tuv Ha-aretz is also a platform for innovative educational and community-building programs that explore the intersection of food and Jewish tradition. Tuv Ha-aretz provides a tangible encounter with organic and sustainable agriculture issues and serves as a catalyst for engaging and revitalizing the Jewish community.
JCCSF participates as part of Hazon's (http://hazon.org) national CSA program!
We've embarked upon this partnership in order to give members of the community an opportunity to purchase an entire season's worth of organic produce at competitive prices while supporting local farmers, building community and expanding our understanding of what it means for food to be kosher-'fit'-for us as well as the Earth.
Members prepay for their share for a 10 week period. Weekly member pickup occurs Thursday.

Our Farm
Capay Fruits & Vegetables is a second generation organic farm secluded in the Coastal Range’s Capay Valley 90 miles northeast of San Francisco. The farm was founded by Kathleen Barsotti in 1976 - marking the early stages of the organic foods movement. Understanding the flaws of modern agriculture, Kathy realized that there was a niche for quality organic produce grown the way that nature intended for it to be – organically. For more information about purchasing a CSA share, please contact Rabbi Eve Ben-Ora. For more information about the farm, click here.
